Getting started with AI Visibility
AI Visibility in Moz Pro helps you uncover AI opportunities by assessing your visibility in AI-generated search results and content.

Setting up your AI Visibility dashboard
When accessing AI Visibility for the first time, you will be asked to set up your dashboard so we are able to begin data collection.
If you already have a dashboard set up and need to create a new one, you can click Add dashboard from your Manage Dashboards screen.
To set up your dashboard, follow these steps:
- Enter your brand domain and click Check AI Visibility.
- Add up to 3 competitors to track. You can either enter them manually or click the suggested competitors.
- Click Save.
- Set up brand terms to track. This step is optional. Adding variations, abbreviations, or product lines will help to generate relevant prompts and capture all brand mentions in AI responses. You may enter up to 5 additional terms per domain.
Quick pro-tip: If you're stuck on what terms to add (especially for unfamiliar brands), use this LLM prompt below to find brand terms!
Copy & paste into any LLM:
I am setting up an AI engine brand monitoring tool.
My brand is [Your Brand Name],
and my top 3 competitors are [Competitor 1], [Competitor 2], and [Competitor 3].
Please analyze these brands and list:
- Common abbreviations or shorthand names users might type
- Key product lines, flagship features, or proprietary sub-brands
- Common alternative names, misspellings, or legacy names
Format the output as a clean bulleted list grouped by brand
so I can quickly select the top 5 terms per domain.
- Click Save.
- Build your prompt list. To select prompts to track in your AI Visibility dashboard, you can:
- Enter a topic manually and click Generate
- Click a Suggested Topic below the search bar and click Generate
- Manually add prompts
- Review your Prompts to Track list. If there are any prompts you do not want to track, uncheck them using the boxes to the left. If you need to generate new prompts to review, simply click the x next to the topic to clear your search and enter a new topic. You can then click Generate again to see a new list of prompts. Your previously selected prompts will remain selected and available to review.
- Once your prompt list is complete, click Confirm & Start Tracking.
Brand Visibility tab view
When you access the AI Visibility tool, the default view is the Brand Visibility tab. This is where you can see an overview of your AI search data.
Select your data view
After your dashboard has generated data, you can use the drop-down at the top right to select the LLM you’d like to view data for.
Click Edit Settings to update your dashboard, add new prompts, or remove prompts you’re tracking.
Your Results
The first module of your AI Visibility dashboard is the Your Results block.
This block includes the following information:
- Date - The date of the most recent data collection and the date of the next collection.
- Summary - A brief summary of the brand’s performance in the tracked prompts.
- Brand - The name of the brand you’re tracking.
- Competitor(s) - The competitor(s) you’re tracking.
- AI Engine - The LLM you’re viewing data for at this time. You can change the LLM you’re viewing data for using the drop down above the Your Results block.
Mentions & Positioning
Below the results summary, there are three blocks showing data around your tracked brands’ mentions and positioning in the responses to your tracked prompts.
- How often are brands mentioned? - This chart illustrates the number of prompt responses mentioning your tracked brands.
- How early are brands mentioned? - This block outlines the average placement of where your tracked brands are first mentioned in the responses to your tracked prompts. The lower the percentage, the better. If a brand appears earlier in the responses, it gets stronger visibility.
- How often are brands mentioned first? - This chart illustrates the percentage of prompt responses where each tracked brand is mentioned first.
If you’d like to see more information about how often your tracked terms appear in LLM responses for your tracked prompts, click Show Terms Breakdown on the top right of the graphs.
This will open up the Current Share of Mentions Breakdown By Terms graph. This graph will show how often specific terms appear for each brand. You can add additional tracked brand terms by clicking Edit Settings at the top of the page.
Performance over time
The last set of graphs illustrates how your tracked brands are performing over time in AI-generated responses.
- How often are brands mentioned over time? - This graph shows how each brand's visibility has trended over time.
- How early are brands mentioned over time? - This graph shows how each brand's position in LLM responses has trended over time.
To remove a brand from either graph, click it in the key below. Hover over any data point in the graph to see more information.
Edit your dashboard and track more prompts
If at any time you need to edit the settings of your dashboard or add additional prompts to track, click Edit Settings at the top of the page.
From here, you can edit your competitors and add additional prompts to track. You also have the option to manually add custom prompts. To do so, click Add prompts manually.
